There have been a number of announcements by the Government over the last 48 hours regarding the administration of Covid Vaccinations.
Although we welcome this news, this information is given to the press quite a few days before it is given to us officially and so we are not in a position to act on it until we are given clear instructions from NHS England, the MHRA and the JCVI. So the current situation for Balmore Park Surgery is:
- Flu vaccine invitation letters will be sent to patients once a date for the delivery of flu vaccines has been confirmed. This will be up to 2 weeks after the original date they were supposed to be delivered. The reason being a shortage of road haulage.
- Covid Boosters are not to be given before 6 months after the second vaccine.
- Patients who are classified as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable will be the first to be invited for a Covid Booster Vaccine.
- We are not yet able to place an order for the Covid Booster vaccine, but as soon as we know a date of delivery, clinics will be booked and patients invited.
Please can we ask you not to telephone the surgery to book an appointment for either vaccine until you have received an invitation, as we cannot book you an appointment yet and your call will prevent someone else from getting through. Our phone lines have been very clogged up with such enquiries today.
